our friend Crazy Mike made this photo animated short about Old Fort Western in Maine. he also received a threaten letter from Old Fort Western asking him to take down the video and citing, incorrectly, youtube's terms of use prohibiting showing the work of a third party (this film is obviously made by Mike). they also had the audacity to be a jerk and talk shit about mike's short. watch the video (which is awesome) & learn about how OFW is haunted by the ghost of Benedict Arnold.

if you feel so inclined, you can read the email mike received asking him to stop showing the video on his page, and, since mike's included the contact info for the complainer, you can chastise them for stomping down artistic expression, restraining free speech and not respecting intellectual property ideas. and, tell them they shouldn't be ashamed of housing the ghost of america's most famous backstabber.

eclipse

did you see the eclipse last night? I hear it was rainy in richmond, but in DC the sky was clear and cold and Saturn was out with the moon, too. I watched it thru the bar's skylight with a table full of hippies who'd just see deepak chopra at the bookstore who were discussing great spiritual truths. they'd just bought me a drink in exchange for 'putting their names in the credits of my first movie' and as congratulations for my moving to NY. i didn't have the heart to tell them it'd be a long while before my film, so, thanks for the drink, table 18.

Earth eclipsed Sun's light on the first full moon of the lunar year. surely this is a good sign? a restart of 2008 which has already been rough for so many of us? A beginning of refreshing change?

In keeping with this month's theme (oh, wait V-day isn't till next month. I guess we're getting a head start here at BG). Read this Nerve article inspired by the new movie Teeth.

The article and trailer reminded me of the song "Roses and Teeth for Ludwig Wittgenstein" by Matmos. Here's a link to a really bad YouTube video where you can at least hear the chorus (in Bjork's voice too).

This guy, Corey Worthington Delaney, had some knock down drag out party in his neighborhood that ended with police in riot gear or something. It caught the attention of the Australian media. So it of course was put on YouTube. I saw the original interview he did with the blonde on YouTube a few days ago. He made her look pretty foolish. Of course he is the one dressed like an extra from The O.C. The dude reporter doesn't seem to be investigating so much as jealous. ha ha. Check this jerk out!

I'm sure a fair portion of us have seen these things dangling from a variety of vehicles.

I think the oddest part about them is that dudes pick these things up because they are perceived as so "manly," (hey bro, my truck has balls!!!) and yet I'm willing to bet that exactly ZERO of them would be interested in displaying a big huge veiny WANG on their trailer hitch.

How did we arrive here, where one part of the male anatomy is permissible to display on one's vehicle, but the other, very close by, bit isn't? And based on the above equations, it seems that someone displaying a weiner on their vehicle would be seen as...a pussy?

Today I helped save the world. Did you? I bought a cloth bag ($1.99) at Ellwood Thompson's, and the little tag on it tells me "14 PLASTIC BAGS contain enough petroleum to drive a car a mile... 380 BILLION PLASTIC BAGS or wraps are thrown away in America each year...Making ONE PAPER BAG emits 70% more global warming gases than making a plastic bag....0 PAPER BAGS biodegrade in landfills due to a lack of oxygen; cities spend 17 CENTS PER BAG in disposal costs, wasting millions of tax dollars." So the only answer is to carry reusable cloth bags with you whenever you go into ANY store! They aestheticly far more pleasing, colorful, and versatile. What are you waiting for? Help me Save the World! (Now if someone could just invent something or reprogram my brain so I don't leave my lovely bags in the car when I go shopping!)

Fawked-Up 80s Movie Scored by Danny Elfman

Oh man, this movie really pushes tha boundaries of taste n tests yer threshold fer cheeze actin/etc. Forbidden Zone plays like a Troma movie even though it predates The Toxic Avenger by 5 years.

Shot in black and white to be "campy," the story is basically about a 6th dimension that is in tha household of some really fawked up family. It's scored by Danny Elfman n directed his brother Richard, n tha musick is pretty much tha most redeeming factor (although thars a good portion of topless chicks). From what ah unnerstand, tha musick included is a sort of pre-cursor to Danny's band "Oingo Boingo" (whom ahm more er less fascinated with these days). Thars also a midget (played by that guy from Fantasy Island), n plenty of cross-dressing. Unfortunetly, thars more then a lil bit of homophobia n inherent racism in some of tha scenes, n it's more of a mess then anythang else. Honestly, ah don't know if ah recommend someone WATCH this movie, er stay tha hell away from it. Ah dae know that it's really fawked up, even by MY standards, so thats sayin sumthang!
